disagree  airmailrpl: take a look at the picture - definitely not a whiting..www.charterboats-uk.co.uk/. ../Fish/WHITING.GIF

-> I'm afraid I've only seen whiting at the supermarket fish counter :)

agree  Rachel Fell: Acc. to Alan Davidson's "North Atlantic Seafood" badejo is used for both the whiting and the pollack

-> thanks Rachel, sorting out the right translation seems to be very fishy ;)

neutral  suesimons: I think I would leave it in the Pt as this fish is the member of the Serranidae family & is probably not translatable directly into En as various members of this fam. are found in cold waters & some in warmer climes.
23 hrs
-> I see badejo can be from the Serranidae or Gadidae (Google) so prob. best to leave as badejo? With no other context, etc., it's hard to tell

disagree  johncon: I used to be a chef and cook robalo regularly - it's sea bass

-> Hello johncon: trouble is, the same name is often given to fish of different species and families, it varies btwn. regions & countries, as I'm sure you're aware; I assumed Asker was referring to Portugal (no context); probably isn't pollack here though
