Bio
Being born in The Bahamas, I was exposed to and am familiar with both British/UK and North American English as well as the Englishes of the Caribbean. I have studied, lived, and worked in the United States for many, many years with short stints working and living in Mexico.
I have a professional background in managerial accounting, having worked at a diversified multinational corporation for an extensive time. I have first-hand knowledge of and have worked as a financial point person in support of overall operations that include engineering, production, and supply chain at varying levels within the structure of a diversified multinational.
I bring this business, financial reporting, and accounting background along with a background in manufacturing to my work in translation.
Additionally, I have a background in language teaching, specifically beginning Spanish at the community college level and English as a second language at multiple educational levels including university Intensive English, community college for credit ESL courses, ABE (Adult Basic Education), and high school.
My Bachelor's degrees are in business with an emphasis in accounting, and Spanish with a focus in translation studies.
I have a Master’s degree in teaching with a concentration in Spanish (linguistics courses being my focus) and am completing thesis work for a Master’s in Linguistics.
An area of work and a service that I perform for my individual Spanish-speaking clientele is translating all types of certificates, diplomas, and transcripts.
For smaller U.S.-based companies, I have worked on translating manuals into Spanish to accommodate the needs of their Spanish-speaking employees.
Currently, my official pair is Spanish into English, but if the need is local and specific, I will provide work from English into Spanish to meet client needs.
I am ready and available to work with translation projects, proofreading projects, and English language learning needs.
