Source text - English A definite chief aim will teach you how to save the wasted effort which the majority of people expend in trying to find their lifework. This lesson will show you how to do away forever with aimlessness and fix your heart and hand upon some definite, well-conceived purpose as a lifework.
Accurate thinking is one of the important foundation stones of all enduring success. This lesson teaches you how to separate “facts” from mere “information.” It teaches you how to organize known facts into two classes: the “important” and the “unimportant.” It teaches you how to determine what is an “important” fact. It teaches you how to build definite working plans, in the pursuit of any calling, out of facts.

Wholly beautiful
I won several beauty contests, three in total. I represented my country Venezuela to the world and, being Latin, I represented all Latinos with great pride. The curious thing about this is, I never wanted to be part of these contests, or anything like them, as I revealed in another chapter. This is the funniest part of the story; I was always against beauty pageants, thinking that they do not represent the true beauty of a human being, in this case that of women. But God has a plan for every human being, not only for some people in particular; He has a plan for everyone. After refusing for more than five years to participate in Miss Venezuela, I finally did it, motivated by the president of the advertising company I worked with in those years. I was already an advertising professional in 1986, and my boss told me that it would be an important experience for my career and that I should see it as if I was creating a “product” of myself so that I would be able to promote the things I believed in and which I still believe in to this day: holistic beauty.
What really is holistic beauty?
For me, it has always been the perfect complement between body, mind, soul and spirit, that is, being "beautiful on the inside" more than the outside. As you can see, I mention the mind, spirit and soul, because the body is only one quarter. The other three parts are more relevant, and therefore, their importance is greater.
One of my main purposes in Panama 1986 for Miss Universe, was to project the strength of my heart and show the world that what really counts is the beauty that we carry inside, which, definitely, with God's blessing, will always be bigger, more intense and more real. It was my heart that prompted me to have the will to achieve a goal, an objective. Many people might think that it is easy for me to defend inner beauty, having become Miss Universe. People usually say that those who have an attractive physique may feel like they have a greater advantage than those who do not. Nevertheless, I must tell you with experience and authority that physical beauty alone does not bring the benefits that many mistakenly believe it does.

Bio
Born in Venezuela, I grew up speaking English at home and Spanish in public.
I was trained by the Summer Institute of Linguistics to be a Bible translator, and fulfilled that dream on a project for the Pemón language of Venezuela.
Since returning to the U.S., I've been involved in three Spanish publishing environments, two of them bilingual and one Spanish only. My most recent experience was as the main editor at a book-of-the-month bilingual publishing house, where our products were mostly self-help and motivational books.
I have also had another career in database programming. I was able to use those skills to write macros in Microsoft Word that I use to speed up my editing tasks. I also created a database in FileMaker to manage the department's projects at my last workplace.
