Hi everybody, I really enjoy the forum... I am a Greek/ American writer residing in Los Angeles, also have been doing translation work on the side. What is the difference between just Subtitling, translation subtitling, and Between editing and readproof
Is spotting the same thing with Cueing

Also what is technical subtitling?

Do you have to have a subtitling software and if yes...which are the most affordable great choices out there?

The agency also has a category of trailers upto 2 --and trailers more that 2
do I charge that per minute? and how much...
or by the trailer?

thank you much, hopefully I'll get some response!

The answer is usually "it depends" Jul 31, 2013

A long time ago, my mother did subtitling for a Singaporean company. I'm not sure what media they used, but I think they were VHS tapes. She had to write down the timecodes and enter them into the software that the company provided.

The company should tell you what they want the output to be. It won't hurt to have subtitling software available anyway, and there are some free ones.

Hi

I did a course on subtitling last year and the professor suggested as a tool for the workshops we had "Subtitle workshop" and for the course purposes it worked pretty well.

Subtitle Workshop 2.51 / 4.0.0 Beta 4

This won't help you with video translation in itself, however for any information you need about digital video, search on http://www.videohelp.com .

God luck!
