Hello all, I've just started as a subtitler and I would like to know what should we input at the end of a movie. Until now I just subtitled from Eng-Port, but the other way around is new for me, so I'm looking for the correct words. Is it: Translation and Subtitling (followed by my name)? Thank you | | | Elisabete Cunha Portugal Local time: 21:51 Member (2006) English to Portuguese + ...
Hi, Raquel, It depends on the agency you're working for. They should give you indications about that. However, if it's up to you to decide, here are the two ways I normally use with the agencies I work for: Translation and Subtitling Name or Translation and Subtitling Name of translator / Name of Company Good luck! Hello. You say you just started as a "subtitler": are you really doing the subtitling process, I mean, putting the subtitles in a DVD or 35 mm. motion picture? Don't think so. If you only translate: Translation or English version: xxx Subtitling: xxx Ltd. Good luck to you. | | | Raquel Bragança Local time: 04:51 English to Portuguese + ... Hello Juan, I´m not inserting the subtitles in a DVD, I actually insert them on the movie at the T.V. station. So I do the subtitling besides the translation. Thank you Elisabete, that is what I was thinking. | |

You say you're NOT inserting the subtitles, then you say you DO insert them. If you only do the translation, and other people do the technical subtitling process, you're not subtitling. Just translating. I may be confused, though. Regards. | | | another solution | Sep 17, 2007 |
I usually put Subtitles by: XXXXXXXXXXX Translation: XXXXXX XXXXXXX | | | Raquel Bragança Local time: 04:51 English to Portuguese + ... TOPIC STARTER I was clear enough. I don't use DVD | Sep 18, 2007 |
Dear Juan, I don't subtitle the film to a DVD. I translate the movie and then at the T.V. STATION I do the subtitling using the software Panda and the machines to burn the subtitles directly on the movie. Got it? So, yes, I do translation and subtitling. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Correct expression in English at the end of a movie Protemos translation business management system | Create your account in minutes, and start working! 3-month trial for agencies, and free for freelancers!
