ஒரு வாடிக்கையாளர்புத்தகக் கடைக்குச் சென்றார்.

ஒரு வாடிக்கையாளர்புத்தகக் கடைக்குச் சென்றார்.
கடைக்காரரிடம் "கேத்தலோகூ" (Catalogue) இருக்கிறதா என வினவினார்.
கடைக்காரர் கேத்தலோக் கொண்டு வந்து கொடுத்து இதை கேத்தலோக் என்று கூறுவார்கள். “ue” சொல்லக்கூடாது என்று கிசுகிசுத்தார்.
"ஓ அப்படியா? எனது கொலீகூ (colleague) வாங்கிவரச் சொன்னார்" என்றார் வந்தவர்.
கடைக்காரர் "கொலீக்" என்று சொல்லுங்கள், அந்த “ue”யைச் சொல்லக்கூடாது” என்றார்.
அதற்கு அந்த வாடிக்கையாளர் "ஸ்லிப் ஒஃப் த தங்ஙூ" (slip of the toungue) என்று விளக்கினார்
கடைக்காரருக்கு ஆத்திரம் வந்தது. “எத்தனை முறை நான் உங்களுக்கு கூறுவது. ஆங்கிலத்தில் “ue”யை சொல்லக் கூடாது. தங் என்று சொல்லுங்கள்” என்று உரக்கக் கூவினார்.
அதைக் கேட்டதும் வெட்கப் பட்ட வாடிக்கையாளர், என்ன செய்வதென்றறியாமல் கோபமாக “என்னோடு அனாவசியமாக ஆர்க் பண்ணாதீர்கள்” என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு அவ்விடத்தை விட்டு அகன்றார். (இப்பொழுது ஆர்கியூ என்று சொல்லவேண்டிய இடத்தில் “ue” யை சொல்லாமல் போனார்). [எங்கோ படித்தது] ▲ Collapse
