Hi All.

I am just wondering if it is possible to retract a question which has been asked. I recently posted a question which I later found the answer to myself. So, I tried very unsuccessfully to remove the question.

Can any tell me if it is possible to do so? And if it is not, does anyone else think that this would be a good feature to include on Proz?

It depends Dec 11, 2004

You can ask a moderator to remove your question as long as it hasn't been answered.
We consider that the question belongs to the asker as long as it hasn't been answered, otherwise it belongs to the community.

When you find the answer to your question a short time after asking, the best to have chances of closing it before anybody answers would be to ask ANY moderator on line to do so.

In fact I personnally don't think it's necessary, KudoZ are not taken from the asker's pocket, so if the question is answered, and they go to the glossary, other people can use it, so wait until somebody proposes the answer and give him the points.
If nobody gives the right answer, you can give it and add it to the glossary when closing the question, either giving points (1-4) to the best answer or declining all of them (I'm not a fan of this option).
What is not possible, of course, is giving the points to the asker when he finds the answer.

If your question is still unanswered, call the Mod.

I needed to do this today Dec 12, 2004

I had asked a kudoz question and realized that I had posted it for the wrong language pair. Boom, immediately I get 3 answers, one of them telling me about the mistaken location. I wanted to take it down and ask again but there was no way to do it other than just awarding the points and reposting. That is what I ended up doing.

Life is tough.

Language pairs can be edited Dec 12, 2004

Hi Edward,

I had asked a kudoz question and realized that I had posted it for the wrong language pair.

That's no problem: moderators and members with over 500 KudoZ points may edit questions, i.e. change the language pair(s).

Giuliana
