I want some one to tell me whether any norm or ratio is available to find how many Tamil words will be generated for every 1000 English words translated into Tamil.
Secondly, how many Tamil words can be assumed to be per page in a normal MS Word file. This info is reqd if some body asked for a page rate.
Please help me with answers, if availbale.

There is no structured ratio for this. And having one will obviulsy become an obstruction to the quality of the work.
But from experience I feel it may be between 1:1 to 1:3 in both the ways.Some times when one go for explanatory translation where the attempt to find EQUIVALANTS have failed this ratio won't fit in. So normally for a page of English with some 300 words the translated work will be having around 450 to 550 words , I feel.

I am not able to tell you about the number of Tamil words per page in normal MS Word, because so far, I have only done small Tamil projects - like half a page. Or some kind of work where English and Tamil are both in the same page (in columns). Mostly I have been doing Tamil>English. When I do some bigger projects, I could tell you. But why don't you take a word count of words in one page? For English I take 250 words as one page.
