One of the "Great Walks" of the World is the coast-to-coast route that crosses England from the Irish Sea to the North Sea. We start in the impossibly romantic Lake District National Park, the sublime landscape that provided inspiration for Wordsworth and Coleridge, hike into the stone-built villages of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, then enter the purple-heather moors of North York Moors National Park, a fitting climax to a fascinating heritage hike. The good cheer of village inns and rural pubs where we relax with fellow hikers adds to the charm of this rewarding journey.
